Genealogy conference
The genealogy conference this past Saturday was a huge success. We had over 150 people in attendance. The three speakers, Dick Eastman, Thomas MacEntee and Lyn Meehan were fabulous speakers and everyone learned a lot about getting organized with genealogy research, identifying things in records, social networking for genealogists, conservation-keeping up with technology, and becoming a genealogy blogger. Dick did a great presentation on Putting the Genes in Genealogy at the dinner after the conference with about 100 people in attendance. The three speakers went to Banff and Lake Louise for the day on Friday, October 15th with Joan Miller, who also is a member of the same genealogy group which I belong to, which is the Alberta Family Histories Society. The next event is helping plan the Alberta Family Histories Society's 30th birthday this year. Looking forward to this event. I have been a member of this genealogy group for 18 years and have found them tremendously helpful. They are a great group.
